Loveness Nawale
Building a future

This 10-year-old girl, whose father suffered from AIDS and died of tuberculosis, has also just arrived in our home.  Before her father died, he had built a house where she lived with her parents and a brother.  Together with his wife they sold goods in a small shop at City Market in Isoka.  After his death, however, his relatives grabbed all his properties.  They sold the house and took over the shop leaving the mother with no home and no means of survival. This is not unusual in Zambia , as land-grabbing is still culturally accepted.

In order to give Loveness a chance at education and keep her off the streets, her mother brought her with shoes, a uniform and books so she could attend school and have a chance at a healthy life.  She is very active, helping around the home.

Loveness is extremely hard working and is always helping others with the daily chore of watering the garden. She has a gorgeous smile and spends hours working on fixing Mwape’s hair.  She has entered grade 4 at Twatemwa Primary School.  She looks forward to obtaining an education in order to work with children such as herself some day.  BACK to Biographies
